We had a great time at the NASPA Western Regional Conference at the Anaheim Marriott. This was the annual gathering of non-instructor faculty, and there were over 900 people in attendance. NASPA refers to the National Association of Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education; historically NASPA stands for National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.
We’re so happy that there were a lot of game players and good sports in attendance: we got rousing games of Talk to the Hand, Secrets and Spies, Flipperoni Pizza and, the big finish, Star Catcher, which proved to be the most popular game of the festival. Several people asked (nicely) “What are you?” and we explained that we were sponsoring a booth to promote our college orientation games. Now we are gearing up for NODA and NACA. Hope to play with you at those conferences!
The stuffed owl is Ned the NASPA Nerd, who I guess was the mascot of the conference… I don’t know because I wasn’t present for that talk. Also see Delia, who made up a secret handshake with a stranger and performed it, winning the grand prize: a shirt for her son!
